1991 F-350 Crew Cab Dually Conversion
This is Steve Lusk's truck, It started out as a 7.3IDI truck with an E40D originally. It had a ATS turbo kit,
turned up pump, different injectors, and a rebuilt trans. He originally baught the truck with a blown
engine and put one in it. Over the next 3 years he put 2 more in it and I told him enough was enough.
No more dang IDI's!

Here are some pictures of the turbo location. I have seen a lot of trucks that have the hvac cover missing
or hacked up when a cummins is installed. I used an industrial exhaust manifold and got the turbo where
it fit very nice. I then installed a turbo master to replace the waste gate and it is so easy to adjust for the
boost level you want to run. I set it at 32psi.

Next we took care of the KDP.
Now it was time to remove the engine and start the cleanup to paint everything
I don't have any pics of putting the engine back in. I lost a memory card when I left the shop one day and it
had a lot of the reassembly pics on it. I built all the alternator, air conditioning mount, idler and tensioner
bracketry. I used the ford's alternator and a/c compressor, and a dodge p/s pump.
The next challenge was installing an intercooler. these trucks have no room behind the grill so to speak.
He already had a lot of other coolers on the truck and wanted to retain them because this truck pulls a
beheameth horse trailer. He found an intercooler that fit inside the front bumper and here are some
pictures of installing it.

I had to cut the hole in the bumper with a cut off saw. Then I smoothed the edges and painted the back
side of the bumper. Next we attached a layer of aluminum mesh and screen for protection to the cooler.
